Renaming Blocks, also renames blocks in other templates

Hi,

Just recently purchased Arranger King.

Is there an Option to add an Empty Block, so that a duplicate does not take on the data from the previous block.

For example when I tried editing a template, renaming the block, also renamed the block from the template i do not want to edit.

Steps I am taking.

. Select Godly Plan for example

. Save as a New Template with a different name

. Move Blocks around, select a block to rename

. Save the Edited Template

. You can choose the New Template or Godly Plan again

. Save as New Second Template, again with a different name

. Move Blocks around, select the same block as before to rename

The first edited template, has the same block name as the second Template.
It feels like the blocks are linked, even though they are 2 different Templates.

The Godly Plan block name stays the same, does not change only the edited New saved Templates have the same block names, when trying to edit / rename them.

DAW : Cubase

But it changes the name of that part. Would be better to make then unique. Example - I’m doing a template to a Jazz, Funk and Soul tune. The Chorus is the backing for the first keyboard solo. The Verse is used later on as a guitar solo. If I change the Chorus to be Keybd Solo then all the Choruses change to Keybd Solo. Would be better to make each part name unique.

Hi @fritslyneborg. Not sure if you saw my post. I made a quick video of the issue I described.

I can’t seem to upload it here.

Hi, thanks for the various posts.

I’m not sure if your problem was solved. but I can tell you what what you describe is intended behaviour.

I understand where you come from, but ArrangerKing is not supposed to be “a DAW in the DAW”; Its supposed to be a guide to what you do in the daw.

Originally people could not rename part types (which is what you describe) and one reason was that I did not want people to thinkt that they could do exactly what you think here: That the naming is “for that section of your music”.

Part types is something you can read about here:

And perhaps when you have seen that, it siys “Click” and you see why all we want to do with ArrangerKing is to mark “A chorus as a chorus”. Not “Name the chorus”.

If - however - you’d like your chorusses to be called DeepDrop or something like that, matching yoru music genre - then you can create your own user music genre, by renaming what chorusses are called.

I hope this makes sense
Your DAW has plenty of naming options, ArrangerKing is there to get structure in it all: What is chorus (or Drop, or…) and what is… Not the names of them.

I think I get it now…You can only edit Templates with names that are already there.

What I did not understand, why the Godly Plan Block name did not change. It stayed as ‘Verse’ while my edited Templates, both of them shared the same name.

I thought the Godly Plan block name would also change. I think I can workaround it though, and start creating my own Templates.

Thanks for replying

Hi @fritslyneborg . After resisting the temptation in renaming blocks. It’s quite easy making Templates.

Thanks for making this Plugin :grinning:

Awesome, thanks for doing the mind-warp ;D

I hope you’ll enjoy the jurney from hereon!
